Tamizdat Project auction in support of students forced to emigrate by war and political repression

Tamizdat Project Inc. is a public scholarship and charity initiative devoted to the study of banned books from the former Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War ("tamizdat" means, literally, "published over there," that is, abroad).

Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the project has also been dedicated to supporting students who have been forced to leave their home countries either due to the war against Ukraine or persecution in Belarus and Russia and now need to continue their education elsewhere.

For this cause, we have put together a Rare Books Auction, which consists of first editions of contraband works from behind the Iron Curtain and a variety of books by emigre authors, a Signed and Inscribed Books Auction, which features titles by contemporary poets, prose writers, artists, journalists and academics, as well as a Support a Student donation campaign.

Tamizdat Project Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization with a tax-exempt status: donations and gifts are deductible to the extent allowable by the IRS. Funds raised through our campaigns will be distributed to undergraduate students, helping them pay for tuition and living expenses while studying in the U.S. We will work with the colleges and universities that have admitted them to make our goal a reality.

Tamizdat Project believes in the power of books to make a difference, and we are inviting you to join our effort! Thank you for your support!
